Sunday Morning Quarterback – Weeks 1 & 2

GRIDIRON GRETA LIST OF THE WEEK (This week – best man to man defenders)

5- Stan Casillas - LVS
o 75/75 with 70 man to man defense. Casillas has been 1st team all-league four times and 2nd team all-league once.

4- Damon Blassingame - ALB
o 63/63 with 86 man to man defense. A 2029 first round pick who has a very bright future.

3- Rod “100 Million Dollar Man” Burton - DEN
o 78/78 with 91 man to man defense. The big free agent signing of the offseason has incredibly only made one all-league team (2nd team in 2016).

2- Joey “The Assassin” Hopkins - LBE
o 85/85 with 88 man to man defense. The defensive player of the year in 2025, Hopkins is still getting it done in his 8th year.

1- Jay Kirk - HBE
o 56/56 with 90 man to man defense. A true example of a player who uses his body as a weapon and it shows. Kirk has suffered injuries to his ankle, knee, elbow, leg, shoulder and ribcage during his career but has never been on injured reserve.

FINE FIVE:

1- Tucson (2-0)
2- Anchorage (2-0)
3- Tennessee (2-0)
4- Baltimore (2-0)
5- Omaha (2-0)

Leagues Fastest Man (40 yard dash times):

1- Michael Sage – WR – TXS – 4.27
o 85 getting downfield and 92 big play receiving show his track skills while 21 avoid drops show his TRACK skills.

2- Tommy Abbey – WR – OMA – 4.28
o Another college track star with 89 getting downfield and 97 big play receiving but poor hands at 23.

3- Hugh Hammond – CB – DET – 4.31
o Hammond has been a good but not great cornerback for Detroit. Incredibly, he has absolutely no return skills despite blazing speed.

3- Wally Wooden – WR – SHR – 4.31
o 2027 and 2029 leagues fastest man is an example of a football player with track skills. Avoid drops, getting downfield, third down catching and route running all maxed at 100 while big play receiving is at 99.

4- Jason Labonte – CB – LBE – 4.32
o Labonte is a threat every time he returns a kickoff for Long Beach.

4- Damon Blassingame – CB – ALB – 4.32
o Blassingame uses his speed effectively as one of the best man to man defenders in the league.

MVP WATCH:
Coming soon

TEN THINGS I THINK I THINK (OR SAW):

1- Fargo QB Lester Nabonsa is off to a hot start to lead the league seven touchdown passes but is also is fighting a sprained thumb. The injury shouldn’t affect is performance but there is a slight risk further injury to the thumb

2- Not having quite the quick start is Chicago QB Marvin Griffith who has thrown six interceptions and a rating of 46.3.

3- Atlantic City ILB Darnell Lyon is showing that you can still perform at a high level even in your 10th year. Lyon leads the league with 21 solo tackles.

4- Speaking of Atlantic City, they have to be the surprise team so far with two wins and only nine points allowed. Can they keep this up? Not likely, but they will go as far as the defense can take them.

5- 2030 League MVP Bart Godfrey of Tennessee looks like he is starting exactly where he left off with 292 yards rushing. That is a 5.8 yard average.

6- In Seattle, RB Van Donnalley has been a monster with 24 carries for 184 yards (7.67 yards per carry). Hey Seattle – give Van the ball!

7- Tucson FS Greg Garrison, a former seventh round pick, has intercepted four passes to lead the league. Entering this season, Garrison had three career interceptions and a high of two in 2030.

8- Long Beach RB Junior Wolfe, the 2030 #1 overall pick, is showing that he can catch and run the ball. Wolfe has 13 catches for 160 yards in two games.

9- Tucson is once again lighting it up on offense with 71 points in two games. Business as usual.

10- Tulsa SS Joey Stephenson, the top pick in the draft, is battling an injured knee but is attempting to fight through it.

Yes yes. More please!

And re: Garrison - I have no idea what has gotten into that guy. Crazy hot start, but I somehow suspect that he will end the season with a grand total of four picks.

Being in San Antonio has that effect on people. He should make a full recovery...
