I forget, do players gain in current ratings during the season or only between seasons? Having half my defense currently in the teens but with some promising potential numbers might cause a big problem if they don't get better as the season goes along.

Ratings can change from game to game. (Whether they're showing you more of the players actual hidden value (unmasking) or whether the player is actually regressing or improving is a determination a GM needs to make.)

It might take a few games for the current ratings to get a little closer to their potential, and hopefully that's because the current is rising and not because the future is lowering. ;)

I've never seen a player gain more than one (maybe two) experience points after just one game, though. It takes a lot of reps to change that number and preseason reps certainly don't hurt but you might not see any changes to those left numbers until the regular season starts.

Speaking of ratings, Howie Knight's ratings actually rose after TC from 80/91.

And this week, he looks like a man among boys. The boys being the rest of my meager offense.

Howie Knight certainly looks to be an amazing back, a once in 10 seasons type back.

Thanks on the ratings thing, oh I am expecting nothing from preseason and very little from the regular season, but just wanted to know if improvement could happen. I might not give up 40 points a game the last 2 or 3 games of the year in that case.
