Game Report: Atlantic City 20. Oregon 28
Preseason Week 3

PLAYER OF THE GAME – QB Rico Firth
Todd Nelson was given his second straight preseason start and had another good game despite playing about a quarter and a half. However, it was Firth who made the most noise as he was 16/28 for 157 yards and 2 touchdown passes. This is going to be a touch call on which of these quarterbacks wins the starting job in week 1.

MISSING IN ACTION – Pass Blocking
The Phantoms have a very good starting offensive line but the backups are young with poor current / high future ratings. This led to 7 sacks allowed – 6 of them allowed by backups.

WHAT IF . . .
It is preseason. Still no what ifs yet…

If YOU MISSED IT
• At first glance, RB J.R. Brustkern had a poor game with only 68 yards rushing. If you look deeper in the stat sheet, Brustkern averaged 5.23 yards per carry and also had a 25-yard touchdown reception.

• S Dwight Ross it nearing the end of his career in the CFL (entering his 10th year and had a poor TC with -9/-9) but he showed his value on special teams with a blocked punt in the 4th quarter.

• OLB Winfred Henry was acquired in a trade from Tulsa just hours before kickoff and recorded 4 tackles and had a 1 pass defended. Look for ACI to get him more time as the WLB pass rusher in preseason week 3 to see if his pass rushing skills can add some punch to the defense.

• Also joining ACI this week is RB Byron Hutton, a 3rd year player who last played with Boston. Hutton will battle Harvey Engelke for the backup spot behind Brustkern.

BY THE NUMBERS
7 - Catches by rookie WR Donald Kruger
86- Rushing yards allowed (second game with under 100 allowed)
2 - Field goals by K Dixon Finch, who is perfect in the preseason

And the QB plot thickens. Looking foreward to seeing who gets the start this year. Keep up the great write ups. I'll try to throw some in through out the year as well, and hopefully with the help of others we can get everyone excited again to check the homepage for the latest articles and news.
