Game Report: Atlantic City 14, Brooklyn 12
Week 7

PLAYER OF THE GAME – RB Byron Hutton

Hutton saved the day for Atlantic City. Leading 14-12, ACI got the ball back with 4:43 left on the clock and needed a strong running game. Unfortunately, J.R. Brustkern had left the game one drive early with an injury. All eyes fell on Hutton to get the job done. And did he ever with runs of 6, 7, and 8 yards. The Brawlers never got the ball back and Atlantic City got a huge win.

MISSING IN ACTION – Passing Game

QB Rico Firth replaced Todd Nelson three weeks ago and was supposed to enhance the passing game, including ball security. So far, that has not happened and ACI may be going back to Nelson. This week, Firth was 10/19 for 100 yards and 2 more interceptions. For the season he has a 3/7 TD/INT ratio and a 44.0 QB rating. Nelson is 4/6 with a 48.6 rating. Ouch! Is Amos Bradford ready to play yet?

WHAT IF . . .

Brooklyn was able to score a touchdown from 1st and goal at the ACI 1 yard line. Instead, ACI was able to stop the Brawlers on three straight plays with 0 yards gained. The resulting field goal cut the AC lead to 14-12 but was the last points scored in the game.

1-1-ACI01 (4Q: 09:54) Kelly May ran inside the left tackle for 0 yards. Tackled by DT Levon Biakabutuka, assisted by DE Mike Hipp.
Brooklyn: Single-Back formation, strength is left. The defense is in a 34 with goal-line personnel and 2-deep bump-and-run coverage, keying aggressively on the run.
2-1-ACI01 (4Q: 09:23) Ricardo Murray ran inside the left tackle for 0 yards. Tackled by ILB Emmitt Suhocki, assisted by DT Darren Richardson. The defense looked very familiar with that play.
Brooklyn: Pro formation with two tight ends, strength is left. The defense is in a 34 with goal-line personnel and 2-deep man-to-man coverage, keying aggressively on the run.
3-1-ACI01 (4Q: 08:47) Kelly May ran around right end for 0 yards. Tackled by OLB Corey Fisher.
4-1-ACI01 (4Q: 08:10) Tyrus Wooden attempted a 18 yard field goal and succeeded. Atlantic City 14, Brooklyn 12

IF YOU MISSED IT

• Atlantic City was better on third down as they went 6/13 and averaged 6.8 yards per play.

• Brustkern is out at least 1 game with a hyperextended knee.

• Veteran CB Dennis Porter had a huge pick 6 at the start of the second half which turned out to be the game winning score.

BY THE NUMBERS
184 – Total yards allowed by the ACI defense.

1 – Red Zone visits by ACI as the offense continues to struggle.

0- Passes to ACI tight ends.

Great write-up!

Atlantic City has a great defense. The goal-line stand was huge. Quite disappointing not to punch it in from the one yard line on first down.

Sweeney's one interception was big. First drive of the second half resulted in six points for the wrong team after receiving the ball first.

It's going to be an uphill battle for the Brawlers after losing starting QB Garrity for the season and possibly for his career. He got "Theismann'ed" early in the San Antonio game on a hand-off, of course.
