We have already reported on the strategy and trades for Atlantic City so now we will look at the selections that were made.

Sedrick Janjic

Image

G – Virginia – 6-4” – 302 lbs.
2nd Round. Pick #2-2. #34 Overall
Pre-Draft Grade: 5.90
Pre-Draft Adjusted Grade: 5.60
Key Combine Scores: Solecismic 30, 40 Time 5.08, Bench Reps 41, Agility 7.59

Actuals: 28/64

The Phantoms had Janjic as a first round talent and were thrilled to see him available at pick 2-2. At the combine, Janjic achieved 41 reps in the bench press which ties him for the fourth highest score for the entire league. With very high volatility, the pick is a bit of a risk but the upside could be huge.

Ellis Oland

Image

ILB – BYU – 6’-0” – 236 lbs.
5th Round. Pick #5-3. #131 Overall
Pre-Draft Grade: 4.30
Pre-Draft Adjusted Grade: 4.20
Key Combine Scores: Agility 7.30

Actuals: 16/45

Even though they had only made one previous selection in the draft, Atlantic City decided to take a flyer on Oland. His overall rating should have put him in the 7th round range but the Phantoms feel that his run defense and special teams abilities will make him worthy of a roster spot.

Sammy Bookas

Image

P – Pennsylvania – 6’-4” – 221 lbs.
6th Round. Pick #6-12. #172 Overall
Pre-Draft Grade: 6.10
Pre-Draft Adjusted Grade: 3.20
Key Combine Scores: Solecismic 32, 40 Time 4.92, Agility 7.19, Broad Jump 9’ 6”

Actuals: 39/51

Going into the draft, Atlantic City planned to take a punter at some point as competition for incumbent Jermaine Holmes. Bookas is a very athletic player who excels in power and directional punter. He will get every possible chance to win the job in training camp.

Dexter Beyer

DT – Indiana– 6’-2” – 297 lbs.
6th Round. Pick #6-30. #190 Overall
Pre-Draft Grade: 4.40
Pre-Draft Adjusted Grade: 4.70
Key Combine Scores: Agility 7.64

Actuals: 20/30

With an extra pick acquired on draft day from Durham, the Phantoms drafted some much needed depth at defensive tackle. Truth be told, he was also drafted due to his last name. However, if his agility performance is any indication he should be a good run defending defensive lineman.
