Game Report: Tulsa 19, Atlantic City 30
Week 2

PLAYER OF THE GAME – QB Monty Lynch – 22/31, 258 yards, 106.6 QB Rating

Lynch continues to impress in the Phantoms offense. For the second straight week, he did not have a turnover and played smart football. Lynch also did a much better job in the red zone as Atlantic City had 3 TD’s and 3 FG’s in 6 opportunities.

MISSING IN ACTION – Forcing Turnovers

Atlantic City has yet to force a turnover in the first two weeks of the season.

WHAT IF . . .

While ACI didn’t force any turnovers they did have a potentially devastating turnover of their own in the first quarter. Giving the opponent the ball inside your own 10 can be very costly. Without the turnover and subsequent touchdown, Tulsa would have been limited to only field goals.

4-1-TUL35 (1Q: 03:54) Quentin Godfrey punted 56 yards. Donald Kruger returned the kick 12 yards to the ACI21. Tackled by Lawrence Byars. Ball was fumbled and recovered by TUL Jamie McReynolds for 14 yards to the ACI07.. Tackled by Hunter Dail.
Tulsa: Goal-Line formation with three tight ends, strength is right. The defense is in a 34 and 2-deep bump-and-run coverage, expecting the run.
1-7-ACI07 (1Q: 03:46) J.B. Lynch pass fell incomplete, intended for FB Jerry Hardwick. DE Edgar Hayes hurried the quarterback into a bad throw.
Tulsa: I formation, strength is right. The defense is in a 34 and 2-deep bump-and-run coverage, keying aggressively on the pass. Castillo is blitzing.
2-7-ACI07 (1Q: 03:42) J.B. Lynch pass completed to TE R.J. Alston for 7 yards and a TOUCHDOWN! The quarterback threw away from the double coverage. Atlantic City 7, Tulsa 6
(1Q: 03:42) Extra point by Rich Dahlin was good. Atlantic City 7, Tulsa 7

IF YOU MISSED IT

• TE’s Carlos Polhemus and Myron Learned get the most press but it was TE Rufus Walsh who was the leading receiver with 4 catches for 79 yards

• FB Hunter Dail did what he does best with 4 KeyBl and 4 BlOpp to lead the way in the rushing attack that gained 189 yards

• NT Darren Richardson did not play due to injury but is healthy for week 3

• The Atlantic City defense had two goal line stands that ended with Tulsa field goals rather than touchdowns.

BY THE NUMBERS

103 – ACI had their first 100+ yard rushing day but it was Mark Picchietti and not J.R. Brustkern

1 – ACI team lead in sacks (by S Marvin Wayne)
