Game Report: Atlantic City 19, Iowa City 6
Week 7
PLAYER OF THE GAME – K Dixon Finch – 4/4 (31, 40, 50 and 53)
After a poor season in 2035, Finch has regained his form in the past year and a half. So far in 2037, Finch is 18/19 and is 6/6 over 40 yards. This week he hit 3 kicks over 40 and 2 over 50.
MISSING IN ACTION – Punting
In a week where the player of the game was the kicker, the poorest performance came from the Punter. Jermaine Holmes had his worst game of the year with a net average of 31.3.
WHAT IF . . .
The Soldiers had a chance to get on the board first and possibly build some momentum but instead had a 33 yard field goal blocked by Atlantic City.
4-1-ACI16 (1Q: 05:09) Sherman Bridges attempted a 33 yard field goal and it was blocked by Winfred Henry. ACI Carlton Hucke recovered the ball at the ACI22. You can blame the block on a bad snap from center.
IF YOU MISSED IT
• Polhemus looks like he is becoming a force in the Atlantic City offense as he followed up a 13 catch day in week 6 with 5 more catches in week 7.
• RB’s J.R. Brustkern and Mark Picchietti are becoming a very tough 1-2 punch. This week, they combined for 126 yards (Brustkern 73 and Picchietti 53). For the year, Brustkern has 422 yards and Picchietti 296.
• OLB Winfred Henry was brought in to be a pass rusher and he has been very effective (4 hurries this week). Blocking a field goal is an added plus.
• QB Monty Lynch is the 5th rated passer in the CFL. That is rarified air for a Phantom QB this far into a season.
BY THE NUMBERS
6 – Phantom wins in 2036 for the entire season
