Before he left for an unknown South Pacific island, the one thing team owner Dewey Cheatham said he would not tolerate was a 3rd straight 8-8 season. Now, with 2 games left, Boston stands at 6-8. Clearly the dilemma for Head Coach [b0fc2d45]Sam Hobbs[/b0fc2d45] and GM [b0fc2d45]flere-imsaho[/b0fc2d45] is whether to strive for success in the last two games, and finish a dreaded 8-8, or allow the team to lapse even more, securing a better draft pick, and avoiding Cheatham's wrath.

[b0fc2d45][u0fc2d45]Game Wrap-Up[/u0fc2d45][/b0fc2d45]

The Panthers didn't have quite enough to overcome division rival New York in a 24-17 defeat this week. The day started badly with the Empire putting together a good drive to score a TD on their first possession. Boston responded with a good play by [b0fc2d45]CB Nichols[/b0fc2d45], intercepting a New York pass to start the 2nd quarter. However, 2 plays later Boston [b0fc2d45]QB McMillan[/b0fc2d45] was intercepted by [b0fc2d45]Ellsworth[/b0fc2d45], who returned it for a TD.

From then on it was an uphill slog for Boston. Two good drives, one in the 2nd and one in the 3rd, resulted in rushing TDs by [b0fc2d45]RB William Sheehan[/b0fc2d45], who leads the league in rushing TDs. [b0fc2d45]OLB Mattos[/b0fc2d45] made a key interception late in the 4th quarter to keep hope alive, but at the end of the day the Boston offense could not string enough plays together, especially through the air, to win the game.

[i0fc2d45]It will be another year of Sheehan-as-MVP, which should make the offseason interesting, as he is in the final year of his contract. Other standouts include most defensive and O-line starters. The rest of the offense is largely (and rightly) shut out.[/i0fc2d45]

FWIW, I voted 7-9. A loss to Fargo and then an upset win against Hartford, the Attack resting most of its starters before the playoffs...
