Are we doing a mid-week between Week 1 and Week 2?

If so, I've always wondered why we didn't do a midweek between Pre-5 and Week 1. In the real world, teams picking up scraps from other teams would do it before the season started and not after the first week of the season.

The reason we do a midweek after week 1, not before is because everyone has to cut down to 53 and there will be alot of new FA's.

Yes, exactly. The cuts are made going into Week 1 and not going into Week 2. So doing a midweek between pre-5 and Week 1 would make more sense.

This allows teams that know they will be upgrading using the players cut from other teams to acquire the FA's and solidify their roster before the first game of the regular season. It has never made sense to me that we do it after the first game of the season.

The only thing this does is cost teams one more week of salary for those going to be cut and risks them being injured and not cuttable by being on a roster for a week when they don't really need to be.

Just throwing that out there while I make sure to adjust my roster to keep the guys I know I need to cut off the field for Week 1. Unfortunately, this year I have more than 7 I'd like to inactivate because they need to be replaced.

Smitty can correct me if im wrong but...Many teams don't cut before preseason week 5, they cut after that game...and before week 1 games.
Having the midweek between week 1 and week 2 allows every team to see every possible free agent that is available.
Having a midweek between pre wk 5 and week 1 would only show you some of the FAs...not all of them.

I just realized that if someone misses a midweek export between pre-5 and Week 1, the AI would not make any roster cuts until Week 1.

So I guess that must be why we have to wait until after Week 1, but that would be the only reason I can think of really. and it is a significant reason the more I think about it. lol

I was thinking that everyone would actually export after pre-5 with all of their cuts, but I then realized that if a team does not export for a midweek, the AI won't make cuts for them. The AI will only force the rosters into compliance at the time of a game.

In a perfect world, all 32 teams would export after the pre-5 game finishes as we went into a midweek export and what I was thinking about would work.

You are right in that anyone not submitting a pre-5 to Week 1 midweek means we do not see all available free agents.

I get it now, I just needed to talk through it. Please accept my 'nevermind'.
