Can anyone say Ricky Williams? If this doesn't work out for the Monitors for some reason they're going to be screwed for a while with no influx of young talent...

Portland, OR (AP) - Oregon Ice owner Jack "Grid" Iron announced today that the team has traded starting quarterback [be778f2c]Landon Hurst[/be778f2c] to the Charleston Monitors. In exchange, the Ice receive cornerback [be778f2c]Orlando Pilcher[/be778f2c], all of Charleston's draft picks this season (3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th), as well as Charleston's 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks next year. "It was not easy trading Hurst away," said Iron of the quarterback that led Oregon to the 2003 CFL Championship. "But we need some payroll flexibility right now." Hurst, who is signed through 2007, is scheduled to make $12.96 million this year. Pilcher is due just over $7 million. |
