GG Flex,

The first half was pretty tame, only 1 turnover and kinda of a stale mate. My new rookie QB Atkins played pretty good in the first, going 10/17 137 1 TD and it's kinda of fun having a running qb, I haven't had one since Thurman Crane.

The second half was much of the same, not much scoring until Tim Joslyn ran in what appeared to be the game winner from the 1, late in the 4th.

But Atkins wasn't having that, he took the team down the field 9 plays 68 yds and threw the game winning TD to Dole. This was an amazing game to watch, especially late in the 4th.

22 - 17 Win

Good Game Flex.

A rematch of last year's Divisional round but this time in Anchorage, we love facing Jimmy. 2 TOs helped us win that one but we have tossed 2 meaningful picks in each of our blowout losses so far this season. Focused on adding more variation to our playbook this week will see how it goes.

Alaska could only manage one chunk play and booted it into the endzone. We go 3andO and Alaska follows suit but try the long FG which is blocked. We gain 6-10 on seven straight plays to get in the RZ but settle for 3 as we got pass happy. Alaska converts their 3rd and long this time before Jimym breaks off a 40 yard run with 15 tacked on for a personal foul (can't blame hime for trying). It looked like they would flounder in the endzone as well but found Blaine on 3rd to get a 1st and goal from the 2. A defensive penalty gets them soem extra tried and they finally pound it in.

We get back to what we do best and in 3 runs are in scoring range. We get our first 3rd down conversion of the day but can't convert 3rd and 1 so remain down 1 despite running for more than 8 ypc. Another defensive penalty bails out Alaska but justice is served as a hold negates their next conversion. It took a screen pass but we finally ogt a decent passing gain and the ground game keeps us churning to a 1st and goal from teh 6 and of course we throw the pick. And WR Crabtree goes down.

Well, we are only down 1 if we keep playing this way without Crabtree then we should be alright. We get to FG range with ease but actually opt to punt instead of take the long try. 50 yards of YAC on 2 receptions gets them into our RZ but again justice is served as pick them in the endzone. We are being efficient and rookie TE Schulz converts a tough 3rd but we punt it again. Interesting running game sequence: Alaska is working that left side but we catch them on the trap to the right only to have them get the left edge again and then get all the way to the RZ on the QB keeper. But 2 straight pressures form WLB Alexander means their lead only goes to 4 late in the 3rd.

Vet possession WR Shelton makes some grabs in Crabtree's place not so much for bar busted Pete Barbour. We remember to run in the RZ and get our TD and a 3 point lead. Alaska is grinding it out themselves with Jimym scrmabling more than passing but eventaully run into a 3rd and long in the RZ and they tie it up halfway through the 4th. Sheldon grabs another for us but the running game dries up Alaska takes over at their 7 with 4 minutes left. Nothing going for Alaska but we fumble the PR and Alaska recovers.

Alaska eases to FG range at the 2 minute warning, they go to the passing game and are snuffed but get the clock down to 30 seconds with a 3 point lead and we have no chance.

Really enjoyed this one. We played great, really both teams did. We just had the one extra error. GG Marven.

Game was earlier similar:
Both had 22 firsts.
Tied in YPA, Sacks/INTs.
Both QBs roughly 50% completion percentage.

We were significantly better on 3rd . We didn't get 30 yards on a play all game but Alaska had at least 3 as Jimmy was really Michael Vick in this one.

Will be interesting to see hwo we can operate without Crabtree for a few weeks, have the bye first. GG Marven.

GG Santa Cruz. Somehow we hung on for the win as Santa Cruz wasn't able to get into the endzone to close out the game.

Kaczor is playing to good to bench for the rookie right now. 60+ completion percentage and 6 TD, 0 picks.

Our defense came to play in this one. Maybe they were motivated to face our former franchise QB in Kirkpatrick. We made his life miserable in this one and Womble took care of the ball fairly well. We certainly don't have an explosive offense right now but our defense is making life easier for us so far.

Big game coming up for us as we get Death Valley in week 4. A win here would give us some nice momentum, a loss would put us in a tough spot to try and win the division.

Good to see a win finally. I'm certainly lucky that my defense is doing a good job (when not facing an 80+ overall QB). Loving the pick six from my 2nd round pick Cox; looks like his interception bar is for real.

On the flip side, my offense hasn't gotten anything going in a single game this season, but it's a step in the right direction to see my TE1 not getting an excessive share of the targets. Not expecting the new WR Boone to be a star, but he's clearly the best at the position on this team right now after just one game.

It's pretty clear that my Vampires aren't quite where they need to be yet, especially on offense, but nobody could have looked at this roster before the season and expected it to contend.

Congrats on your well earned victory. It's always good to see your rookie QB lead the team on a late TD drive to seal a game. Things are looking up in Omaha.

0-3 due to sloppy special teams and turnovers. GG Oregon, without the punt return and the fumble return, you would have won by a whopping 3 points.

My new QB is settling into his position I think. Would like him to taste victory though. Maybe next week.

It was a tale of two halves.

We were back in 2054 form in the first half behind 237 passing yards on 70% completion efficiency (14/20) with 53 rushing yards on 11 carries (4.82 ypc) putting up 28 points in the process. The final minute of the half was an omen for the second half when McKnight threw his first of 2 picks on the day putting Atlanta in position to put up a FG with :05 left in the first half.

The second half was all 2055 Rounders football with McKnight really struggling to resemble a pro QB. He went 3/14 (yes 21%) for 18 yards while we managed to rush for only 29 more yards on 13 carries (2H was 2.23 ypc). I'm not sure how we managed to put up 3 points in the second half but it kept pace with Atlanta's production for the 31-6 victory.

GG Brooklyn

Came down to the final play in QT. Glad I drafted a kicker.

GG hbcook86...

That was a back and forth barn burner...

I've never seen so many reverses run in a game before. Interesting tactic.

GG NO,

OT on the final play of the game, 56 yard field goal. Brooklyn had their chances, but came up short.

Still hanging around the back-end of the Yankee Division,
