Anyone know how to make my avatar smaller, lol?

i change the size on the user control panel, but it keeps telling me avatars have to be 500x500...... seems everone else's is smaller...

The team button worked but the storm doesn't have a banner, they used to be the albany crows. Are you good at making banners? because I'm not great but I can try.
