You know you suck when you can't sign anyone in Late Free Agency...

Interesting that S Ackerman took a deal that offered him one-one hundredth of the guaranteed money I was offering ($10,000 vs. $1,000,000) in exchange for the near zero probability of getting a $6.99m salary.

I'll have to remember that little trick.

Looks like he'd easily make the Texas roster.... giving him a shot at the $7 mil. No where near a lock to make the Tucson team.

I think that was a clear indication of how he did not want to play for a team like Tucson. Losers.

Excellent work - I'm not going to contest that one!

And yeah, TLK is right. He probably will get a shot at that $7m. I hadn't looked a Texas' roster before I posted my earlier message.

But I think this highlights a real flaw in FOF - one that has been pointed out by others (most notably SkyDog) elsewhere. In FOF 2k7 teams seem to trend toward having more and more open cap space, allowing for absurd FA contracts like this one. That's not a shot at you nikkelback - your offer makes perfect sense, given that you've got the cap space. My complaint is that Jim has dropped the ball on the cap portion of the game, primarily because of the ease with which we can keep players from ever hitting free agency and thus demanding the huge contracts that would gobble up cap space. That has allowed this kind of absurd contract situation to arise, and I fear it is only going to get worse unless Jim fixes it.

non taken, i did what i had to , it he pans out and keeps his future rating, he will be resigned at a reasonable price as a restricted free agent next off season, between this very high contract and his next which probably won't be much, it should average out pretty good.

but i agree it is kind of absurd. i remember similar conversations last fa2 period we had, and many of them were over my extremely high offers to some undrafted players, it should be noted that most of them are no longer with the team, the ones that remain have very small contracts now. kind of like searching for that diamond in the ruff.

[ande fore mye grande finale]

It's $7m, it's not like it was $15.51m...

I know some Safeties who would balk at a bonus of only $7m.

I think where the ball was dropped is that these players should only agree to contracts comparable to their pay history in subsequent negotiations, meaning that this guy will be expecting $7m per year going forward from this team.
