Man, I know I am new but can we just finish the draft in one fatal swoop in a live chat?! 5 picks in 2 1/2 days? Ugh.

Actually, that nice pick came from Tulsa, not Tucson. But thanks for the good vibes! :D

I'm with backbreakers on this one...

We had a LOT of good participation going, and it is dying already because of the pace of the draft...

In fact, whatever happened to the clock ? Wasn't it supposed to be 8 hours or something ? It seems like it never started again after the live chat session...

We really need to speed things up, this is getting atrocious...

The weekends are busy for everyone, myself included. Sometimes things get in the way of the CFL. I do not have problem with things slowing down the weekend becuase it slows down for me as well if that makes sense.

I understand the whole 'weekends are busy' thing. However, I also understand that owners will participate to the level that the commissioner sets.

We had great flow in our currently running draft in SFL until we hit a minor brick wall on Saturday. From there we put in a 24 hr time limit on picks with the express understanding that if someone wasn't going to be around on a weekend, to make sure a list goes in by Friday so that things can keep moving, or else the team scout will pick for them.

By stating this clearly, the players know the boundaries by which the league will run...and to a one, they've been on board with it, and we haven't had to make a scout pick yet.

GE, it's your right to run your league the way you want to. But by having things so vaguely defined, you will run the risk of some players slacking and other players being upset by that. The quantity and quality of a players participation will be directly reflected by the quality and quantity of the commissioner's involvment. EVERY successful league I've ever seen has had active commissionership that worked on a consistent basis to improve the league.

Since coming here, I've seen an active base of players that want the best league possible. I've also seen quite a few critical player exports missed entirely, inconsistent rules regarding the draft, and somesuch. My league is FAR from perfect (as a couple of others here can attest to), but we're continually trying to make things as consistent as we can...something that based on how you've handled complaints to this point, I'm not confident this league will do.

With that, I've decided that my frustration level at some point will preclude the fun I would have being in this league and that, plus mounting time issues at home,w ill force me to drop CFL at this present time. In honesty, it's more time issues than with what I've talked about, but all I know is that when my leagues prior owner showed serious levels of inconsistency in how thing were run, players eventually got tired of it. I hope that doesn't happen here.

The above, of course, is just my opinion, I could be wrong. </dennismiller>

Why did you even bother to the join the league in the first place? It makes me angry to see people take over a team for a week then leave. Yes, some exports were missed that was neither myfault or the owner's fault. That is why I am working to implent a system where that will not happy anymore.

However, I live a life outside the CFL. Weekends are a busy time for me. I am usually working or watching football or spending time with love ones I do not see during the week. This has been echoed again and again by other owners in the league. I do not have any problem with people not making a draft pick over the weekend if they are busy. Should they submit a list? Sure, but if they do not, then it is no big deal, we will pick it back up on Monday.

If anything hurts my enthusiam for the league it is owners like you (no offense). I was recharged after the weekend and ready to go back on the new website I am working on as well the various utilites. However, I see this and it is just very discouraging.

I guess you can not please everyone.

GE,

I can understand where Steelerdaddy is coming from, but for me it's not out of frustration it's out of anxiety. There are a couple of players on the draft board that I want to pick up and the suspense is killing me.

However, I can deal with my own anxiety. I like the way that you are running things and prefer the laid-back style(that we have) to the gustapo style that is suggested. I don't think that Steelerdaddy really understood what this league was about. It's sad to see an owner go, but it's in the best interest of both the league and the owner.

I think that you're doing an excellent job. Please don't let the criticism of someone who didn't even make it through one offseason deter you from the projects that you have been working on for our league. I know that I appreciate all the hard work that you put into the league and I'm sure that most of the other owners share my sentiments.

With that said . . . Let's get this draft moving! :D

Hawk, thank you for nailing it. I'm not saying the league is bad; it's just not right for me. I'm in 3 other leagues and I guess a 4th was just pushing it too much.

Good luck with everything.

Again, I know I am new here, but I think there should be rules in place no matter what day it is. It slowed down before the weekend hit.

However, it appears I like SteelerDaddy are in the minority here, so I will keep my opinions to myself.

You should be able to express yourself and I understand where everyone is coming from. Don't get me wrong. I hope to have in place next season a toll that will automate the process for everyone.

I take some responsibility for the slow down. I was waiting and groaning about no action thinking I was not up until the 10th pick. It went 24 hrs before NOS reminded me it was my pick and not NOS's pick. Had I not had my head up my ass we wouldnt have lost so much time over the weekend. Sad thing is I was cussing you NOS and it was my pick.

Have people been PM'ing the next person on the clock after they make a pick? This way, at least the know that they are up.

That seems SO unnecessary, but I'll start doing it anyways... people should be checking the board regularly...

I'd say that ended up being the correct decision. That 98 volatility killed Benson. :(

Woot! A little bit of preseason playing time and and tutelage of mentor Owen Rakes have already payed off. Dustin has gone from a 17 in current talent to a 20! :D
