Big game vs ELP. We are gonna unleash the bliitzes a bit and may end up regretting that due to big plays or scrambles but so be it. On O, Crabtree being out may actually be a blessing as that means their frequent doubles will be going to Gibbons through I believe and I a still waiting on the game where they get punished for skimping on Ss after several years but it aint happened yet.

Sullivan burns us once when dropping 8 but we get them off the field at our 45. 3andO for us so they take over right about there and Barkers adds a nice run and a nice catch and run to bring them to our 4 where TE McKenzie beats the double for 6. We go sack, misfire, INT and they get right inside our 5 once more but we hold up there. We get a couple first downs with Holzer breaking one on 3rd and short to their 20 and a big TE screen gets us back in it. Wyatt hits a couple intermediate gains and it is just so hard to get 3 incompletes or short tackles in a row against this squad, a 3rd and 14 scramble comes up 1 yard short in the RZ for ELP and thank god they opt to kick. A nice KR has us near mdifield but we go 3andO once more but they can't connect on 3rd and 2 so we et it back close to midfield. We get a couple conversions with WR Fence waking up but he gets tackled short on 3rd and 12 as we cut the deficit to 3. Our best CB Nixon leaves the game and ELP does that annoying thing of picking up a 3rd and 8 on the ground but tried it once more and we sniff it out. But they go for 4th and 6 at our 44 outside of minutes and get it. They move it well even overcoming a personal foul but a bad snap on the FG attempt leads to a miss and bullet dodged for us.

We get CLE and SEA before DET will have to see how things play out to see if we rush Crabtree and or Nixon back for that one. For now, enjoying a 1.5 game lead on MIA in the division.

Lucky to only be down 3 in many ways. ELP is boom and bust oon O but more concerning is our own terrible O performance especially passing at under 4 ypa with a pick and 1/5 on 3rd.

New WR2 Sigrest grabs a couple to help us move the sticks down to FG range and Fence gets one YAC play but we get stifled inside the 10 and tie it up. 2 more intermediate passes and a Barker chunk have them at our 35 in no time but once more tackle on the 3rd down run and they go up 3. We copy their formula to tie things up. And get a prety quick stop with solid pass pressure to close out the 3rd all tied up.

We battle our way to the orange zone and Mitchem improvises on 3rd and long to find Fence deep in stride for 6. Wyatt beats our 6 man rush on 3rd to no other than McKenzie but we cach Barker dancing behind the line on teh next series and they run it once more on 3rd to no avail so we take over at our 12 with 8 minutes left. Fence get s anice screen chunk to near midfield and Mayes gets a nice YAC chunk on 3rd and short to bring us to FG range and we go to a doubled Gibbons twice in a row to go up 14 after the XP. Wyatt doesn0t even need a 3rd down to but our lead to 7 though and there is still more than 2 minutes left. A defensive offsides helps us grind out a fresh set of downs and that is ballgame.

Wow...certianly didn't feel like we were gonna win that but our athetes won teh YAC war 7 to 6. Those elusiveness and hole recog backs continue to give us trouble but ELP perhaps ran t a bit too much on 3rd as he went 2/5 there. Our rush did help derail the real deep stuff as they went 0/4 there. We frequeently criticize the timing bar but it may have won us this game.
