Rematch from a potential Game of the Year earlier with over 1000 yards of offense overall. We obviously retooled D a bit but opened the door to give up another 200 yards rushing like last week. O we didn't open up all the way like back in week 13 but a bit and I think we can block em up and hit downfield.
We start on the ground as usual but can't convert a 3rd and 2. DAL loses yards on a reverse then get called for a hold o the 3 yard line, a false start and (...safety pretty please) but no they find Carlisle over the middle but come up just short. A PR penalty erases our field position advantage but Rice gets us 40 on a deep pass and the runs aren't working but longtime X Sigrest converts the 3rd and 12 and TE Moffitt rumbles in on 1st down from the RZ. DAL has a ncie run called back on a hold but WR Flowers takes a short one for 27, DAL dinks and dusts there way to the orange zone but then vet cover man Parrella steps in front of Flowers and grabs the pick-6! DAL is highly efficient getting to long FG range but we get a 3rd down sack and they have to punt from our 36 and we take over at our 7. A couple runs including a 28 yarder from maligned rook Plourde to close out the 1st Q.
We miss a deepshot to Donaldson but run game and short passes on 3rd keep us on track until we failed another 3rd and 2 and settle for 3. DAL rips right through to FG range once more but yet another holding call and they claw back to hit a long FG and get their first points of the game. We miss anothe deepshot and then eat a sack on 3rd. We are really struggling ot get incompletes and they are starting to break tackles underneath and it was at least 6 consecutive completes to get that TD and cut the deficit to 7. Shapiro wants more and goes fro 22 to open the maybe hurry up, but we end up getting a hodling call and jsut completing some underneath stuff to head into the half.
Man, wish we coudl adjust and add more run where we are ligthing them up while the passing game is about typical for us. DAL has racked up 12 first downs in the air and is 17/20 overall (2 sacks) at first we were tacklign but things got looser for them the last 2 drives. Not a lot of yardage but DAL has had 6 penalties. Def watch to see which team can get a TO or two.
We start with a nice balnced and diverse drive to get a 1st in the RZ and Johnstone stands in against the free rusher and finds goalline stud X Sigrest on 3rd with the TD. We get what I think is the first 3andO of the game stuffing the runon early downs, adn Sigrest isn't finsihed sahking off a downfield tackler for 30 and we keep moving it en route to 7 more and a 21 point lead with 19 minutes left. DAL has a tough 3rd down conversion called back on penalty and eats a sack on the redo but we get our first 3andO of the day. Yet another PR penalty for DAL keeps them back.
DAL battles back from another Holding call, more penalties to be overcome but a couple big YAC chunks on 3rd downs gets DAL back within 2 scores with 12 minutes left. RB Banks is having an awful game as our ball control guy fialing on 2nd and 1 and 3rd and 1 so DAL gets it back at their 14 with 9 minutes left after (you aren't going ot believe it) ANOTHER PR penalty. DAL goes on an absoultely brutal drive of short passes and penalties on both sides and get to our RZ just under 5 minutes. But they go 3 straight incomplete and are forced into a 4th and 10 and ocome ou tin the 230 and are tackled underneath easily. That's pretty much ballgame.
Despite 15 penalties DAL only gifted us 1 1st while we gifted them 2- ST and OL seeemed like biggest culprits. Our D finally started stopping Woodson but he was at 80% completion for teh 3 quarters. Our run game, the one 1 INT and some chunks from our vets was enough to build a lead and get us in a position to win. Great season Dallas you guys were an absolute behemoth!
