Pyrrhic victory for us over an absentee Hartford squad. Way under 50% passing with 5 TOs as Crabtree ent out early and we had our typical heavy Crab GP in. Our pass rush continues to put up insane numbers though Walsh and Alexander both with 8 successful rushes.

Crabtree out 4 weeks with his 2nd concussion in as many years.
Stalwart C Keith dinged up
CB Nixon dinged
S Watson still out and S Brewer still holding out (wtf man! sure you had 11 picks last year but that don't change your bars)

Lucky the injuries are hitting our deep areas but should be a challenge the next few weeks without Crabtree on O. And we have a real murderer's row up LVS, BOI, ANC ORE without him, we started slowly last year too but that was because we were playing rooks, not sure what our excuse is now.

GG Raven. You guys stymied our offense all day and we struggled to cover Stanton primarily but also Warren. I feel like our corners are up to the task on paper but they didn't have much success on the field. I don't have time to try and experiment with game-planning so maybe that is what is lacking. Good luck the rest of the way.

Wow. QB ran for more than 80 yards. Maybe the gameplan was a bit off. Good way to get my young QB injured. Rookie RB though showing some flashes with over 9 ypc this game. GG Cleveland!

Look out Seattle, Tucson's getting desperate for a win...

GG Hbcook86!

Not much to take away from this game really, I'll take a w any way we can get it. Defense played well, I need to get my TE more involved, I was struggling to come up with a good game plan and it showed, especially on 3rd downs. Credit to the Durham D though, they played well. I thought we would have a much better day in the air then we would on the ground, turns out the opposite is true. I'll admit it, I love my rb combo of Dunn and Craig.

Good luck the rest of the season

A bend-but-don't-break defense and a new offensive game plan focusing on rookie RB Taylor Murray has reignited the excitement in Detroit that week 1 dampened. Taking the ball out of QB Mitchem's hands and playing for sure points in field goals has given the team their first win against Las Vegas since 2049.

The running tandem of RB Murray and RB Marsh and a CB Greenslade signed just days before the game set Las Vegas behind early and held them there. "I'm just glad for the opportunity to play football and show all the teams that passed on me that they messed up," said RB Murray after the game.

The Vampires led all game by as many as 14 points but Vegas showed signs of life in the fourth quarter after a blocked punt brought them within 7. A Greg Manns field goal, one of many, moved the finish line just enough out of reach and QB McKnight was unable to engineer the comeback required by the visiting team. "Just doing my job," K Manns said, "Sometimes games play out this way. If the team needs Greg the Leg, I'm ready."

Vegas found the yardage required on offense but turnovers and key stops were able to interrupt the Rounders' well-oiled machine. Rookie RB Alonzo Gmerek was held to 24 yards on 10 attempts as the league continues to grade the blockbuster trade from Boston. Detroit RB Murray ran for 111 yds on 22 carries, most of it on a handful of long runs in the second half as the Vegas defense tired.

The win showed a clear shift in the offensive philosophy of the team as Mitchem was largely relegated to a game manager role finishing 16-28-109 with leading receiver TE Voinovich sidelined with a knee injury. "The knee feels fine, but Coach decided to take it easy this early in the season," the 9 year veteran said of the team's decision to rest. "I'm just hoping Sims is OK after that knock at the end there. He really should've been more careful since the game was over."

Detroit travel to Hartford for week 3 against a team with significant issues in the front office.

Vegas continues their two week road trip to Fargo before an early bye week.

GG Smitty

We started out in an absolute dog fight reminding me of our super bowl match up in 2054 where we were trailing by a score most the game just needing a side of my team to strep up. But instead in this game we collapsed late giving up 20+ yard plays on third down, too many sacks to count and 2 pick sixes. I don't know if I would have won if the collapse didn't happen, but wanted to see how that game would close out. You've got an amazing passing game and lethal pass rush going for you, both blowing me out of the water. good luck on the rest of the ride!

Looking at the stats I thought the scoreboard would be a little tighter, but TO's, especially pick 6's, make all the difference.

Our number of rushing attempts is close to what I expected from our game plan but we threw a lot more than I like and I still have not cracked the code on limiting Conley's insane disproportion of targets. Despite some playbook changes to address that and McKnight's penchant for choosing the deepest route on every play, we are still going deep more often than I want to see.

I think the number of pass attempts is due to us being behind in this case, but I still need to work on getting our offense more balanced.

On defense, we improved the secondary with some young talent but that was offset by our quickly aging front seven that we have leaned on for several years now. We'll need to get the offense back to its 2054 form if we want to overcome that and to enable our current roster to be successful through to the post-season.

Good luck the rest of the way!

GG Turf, I don't know if my team is underperforming or overperforming, but I'll take my first win of the season. RE: the score being tighter-- you guys did get a blocked punt -> good field position -> 7 points... so I'd say we were even on TOs!

I wonder how many games my team can/will win while staying at the bottom of the league in every metric..

Good game shooter.

Almost an Patriots - Seahawks SB ending

Interesting MVP:
QB Juan Grueneich 52 26 294 1/5 1 27 0 73.7

And not my RDE Taylor with 2 sacks, and 4 hurries.

Also - I wondered a little about this play:
4-3-HON04 (1Q: 03:59) Nicolas Gibson attempted a 21 yard field goal and succeeded. PENALTY: OLB Brady Moss of Honolulu was called for Roughing the Kicker. The penalty was declined. Honolulu 7, Kansas City 3.

Isn`t roughing the kicker an auto first down?

it is if it's accepted, lol... i guess your coaches decided to keep the points on the board.... no auto-first if penalty is declined--

GG, Johnny. Two weeks in a row our defense has come up big on 3rd downs. Experimenting is the key to success here. I end up having to experiment every year. Good luck!

I would agree that a blocked punt and an interception are the same, as you're giving your offense good field position, but I would rather have a blocked punt or interception over a pick 6 or punt return TD.

In those cases, the other team gets 6 points with barely any time off the clock and your defense doesn't get a chance to do anything about it. I'd rather have a punt/int returned to my own 1-yard line in those cases so my defense at least has the opportunity to make a goalline stand and limit it to 3 points. Pick 6's and return TD's are devastating and requiring nothing from the other team's offense - typically a contributing factor when stats don't match the scoreboard. The only stats that really matter are in the Win/Loss columns.

Just ask Raven Hawk, we don't call it getting Shreveported for nothing.
