Former Santa Cruz Privateers Head Coach, JT Sherman has accepted an offer to become Defensive Coordinator with the Texas Inferno, sources said.
Sherman, 52, was last seen in the CFL as Defensive Coordinator for the Brooklyn Tigers in 2013. Since then he has been part of the ESPN experts panel during live broadcasts.
Sherman is best known for for taking the underdog Privateers all the way to the CFL Bowl in 2004, knocking off 3 Division winners along the way, only to fall to the much-fancied Charleston Monitors in the Bowl game. His hiring comes as the Inferno continue their rebuilding under new GM b-jay.
Sherman reportedly met with the Texas owners this week and decided the Inferno offer provided his best option for the future. Sherman's deal with Texas is expected to cover four years.
On the offensive side, Louie Davison, a CFL consultant in recent seasons, is headed to the Inferno as Offensive Coordinator.
