A 2-2 Week 16 for the Deep South is leading to a sadly dull Week 17. New Orleans finally bounced back, and in a big way rocking Long Beach 43-0, while San Antonio took care of business in an efficient manner defeating Texas 15-6.
Tennessee played impotent in a 10-9 loss to Santa Cruz, and Shreveport was trounced by Huntington Beach 27-3. Odd theme here, the teams that scored in the double digits won. Hmmmm....
The Deep South player of the Week is New Orleans QB Harvey Hillson. He threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns finishing the day with a passer rating of 140.7, New Orleans fans are asking themselves "Where has that been all year?"
Week 17 Picks (Going to keep it simple this week):
New Orleans @ Shreveport
Shreveport wins 27-10
San Antonio @ Tennessee
San Antonio wins 31-13
Playoff picture:
The reason for the abbreviated pics is that for any Deep South team besides division winner San Antonio (congrats by the way) to reach the playoffs they need help. If two of the following three teams win (Hartford, Atlantic City, Cleveland) then both Shreveport and Tennessee stay home.
If both Hartford and Cleveland lose and Shreveport wins then they are in the playoffs.
Tennessee needs both of those teams to lose and then some help with the tie breakers.
